How much will it hurt?
This depends on your personal pain tolerance level and also where the tattoo is placed on the body. Some areas of skin are more sensitive than others so naturally being tattooed in those areas will hurt a little bit more.
What exactly does it feel like?
Being tattooed has a feeling all of it's own. Many people compare it to a cat scratch while others report a slight burning sensation.
How do I care for my new tattoo?
You will be given instructions on the care of your new tattoo. If you don't understand something please feel free to ask questions.
How much will it cost?
This of course is a question that can be answered only when we can actually see the design and know where it is to be placed on the body.
Why does one artist give me one price and another artist in the same studio gives me another price on custom work?
Each artist has their own style and knows what they will be doing with any given piece so naturally prices will vary.
I went to another studio and they told me a lower price. Isn't it best to go with the lowest quote?
A tattoo is a lifetime investment. Choose your artist WISELY. All tattooers are NOT created equally. Many are inexperienced and some are still in their apprenticeship. Also some are less talented than others. Do not choose your artist based on price alone. Many have lived to regret their "bargain" tattoo.
How do I go about choosing an artist?
Look at samples of their work first. If you like what you see then talk to them about your likes, dislikes and expectations. If you're interested in tribal work for example, do not go to an artist that specializes in portraits.
I'm worried about contracting a disease. Is it safe for me to get tattooed?
Yes. Pirate Tattoo is inspected and certified by the Washoe County Health Department. All needles are new and used once. Pigments are dispensed into single service amounts and any left over is discarded. We make full use of plastic barriers for your protection as well as our own. We take pride in the cleanliness of our studio and think you will feel quite secure in getting your tattoo done here.
